Outrage in the Forest: Averil Kear

Averil says:
My family history research started in 1989. I found the will of my husband’s great, great grandfather in 1858, which left property to his son, Richard, now residing in Bermuda, West India. My husband asked his elderly uncle Len what he knew about this and was told that Richard had been sent to Bermuda as punishment for the crime of deer stealing in the Forest of Dean. As I worked at Gloucestershire Archives I thought that a check of the gaol registers for this crime might be useful but what I found was somewhat different, as you will see.
