Following the move to Step 2 Restrictions we are pleased to say that the Family History Centre reopened on 20 April. We offer booked appointments.
Gloucestershire Family History Society
The Gloucestershire Family History Society (GFHS) is a self-help organisation staffed by volunteers helping all to research their ancestors and the background against which they led their lives in Gloucestershire and beyond. It has a worldwide membership and is a member of the Family History Federation.
Births, Marriages and Deaths. Free BMD
Our volunteers have worked tirelessly for many years transcribing this free index to make it available to the public, courtesy of the Gloucestershire Registration Service and Gloucestershire Archives dedicated website. Coverage starts from 1837 up to 2016. And, of course this is an ongoing task.
The Society sells local History Books, Maps and CDs. The CDs are published by the Society and contain transcriptions of Gloucestershire Registers, Baptisms, Marriages, Burials and a large amount of monumental inscriptions, plus much more. Many of these CDs are also available as downloads. They can be purchased through the online shop or from the Family History Centre.
