Close to the Edge tells the story of two world record holders. Dick Sheppard has been cut out of or walked away from more cars than any other person dead or alive. The verb to total was invented for him. He has ‘totalled’ more than 2000 cars.

The other is Jacquie De Creed who has has always looked like a fashion model than a daredevil.

Dick builds the strongest roll cages. Countless times they have saved his life and hers. Never has that overworked adjective ‘death-defying’ been more literally applied to a story. It isa story of two truly remarkable people.

In common with many others I never expected to be able to read their autobiography except posthumously.
