Description
By: Colin Martin
In August 1901, the first tram ran in public service in Cheltenham, but by the end of March 1930 the system had closed. This volume examines the story of the town’s public transportation from the early horse-drawn bus days, through the tram era and into the days of the motor bus. Previously unpublished photographs are combined with remarkable research into the conflicts peculiar to Cheltenham’s demands that an efficient transport system had to fit in with the aesthetic qualities of an elegant Regency town.
