Description

The  Lister Family at Rivers House and their activities at Rivers Mill and in the Locality played a large part in transforming  Dursley Town from its impoverished state of the 1830’s to being amongst the ten most prosperous towns in the Country a century later; as assessed by one national news[paper.

“The Mawdsley Story” of 2010 detailed the old mill’s “Zone Works” period from 1907 until 1994 when the original building was demolished.

Additional archive material with other items, found subsequently, exists in folder form at Dursley Heritage Centre and Gloucestershire Archive Department at the City’s Alvin Street.

To celebrate reaching his hundedth year the author publishes this small booklet to make the information more widely available.
