Existing members may find it helpful to have some background on the changes from the old website, especially on the new ways of managing your membership.
For new members and visitors we hope that the organisation and layout of the website is clear but it you have any queries please email the Webmaster.
Similar content and layout
You should find the layout of the content and most of the menus familiar with clearer information on the individual pages. The shop is now provided by improved software and you will see the available products more clearly. The categories within which products are grouped are also similar .
One important change is that the journal is now available as a product in the shop. Simply click on any journal edition and follow the shop process. You will be able to download it provided your membership is current and you are logged in. You will also need to be logged in to use the Members’ Area fully.
Please log-in by selecting My Account from the Menu bar at the top of the page. Enter your username or e-mail address and use the password sent to you in the Welcome e-mail around 22 November when the new website was introduced.
If you haven’t received an e-mail or forgotten your password, please click on “Lost your Password”, enter your email address and then click “Reset your Password” An email will be sent to the e-mail address submitted provided that is the one you have used for your membership. You will be able to use the link in the email to create a new password. You will not be able to submit the request unless the email address is recognised.
If the e-mail address is not recognised or we don’t hold an e-mail address for you on our records or you have changed it, please use the Contact Us on the Menu bar and select Membership Queries from the drop down menu. Fill in the fields including the correct email address that you wish to use. Include your membership number or other identifying details in the message. You will receive log-in details in due course.
Changing your Password
We suggest that you change your password to a new one that you choose. Once logged in you will have access to the Members Dashboard. Select Account Details to change your unique password. Make sure it is strong, using upper and lower case with a mixture of numbers and symbols.
From the dashboard you can also check that your personal details are correct
For most members the main change is in the way you renew your membership subscription. This is now a fully automated process and governs how we manage and accept payments by Standing Orders, On-line and by post.
Membership now simply runs for a year from when you join rather than being the same fixed time of year for everyone. For existing members the next renewal will be as follows:
- If you pay by Standing Order, the payment date (wherever it is in the year) will be your renewal date and determine your new membership year
You will be reminded at least twice by email to make your renewal payment by the due date. You can renew up to 30 days before if you wish and it won’t affect your current membership year.
If an on-line payment has not been received by the renewal date then your membership will expire, until you renew again. There will be a degree of flexibility only for postal, card and in house payments, but as a rule any subscription payments over 30 days beyond the due date, and the date of receipt will be the start of your new membership year.
How will these changes affect you?
Members who forget to renew may miss and/or will not receive the next printed journal(s), as the membership will start afresh from the later date they renew. However, they will still be able to download the back journals on-line once they have renewed. So, all is not lost.
During the period between the expiry date and renewal, members won’t have access to the members’ area of the website as this is now an automated process.
Inevitably there will be a few hiccups, so we ask our members to be patient while we go through this transitional period.
