Sue will offer a guide to using Gloucestershire Police Archives to find your local constabulary ancestors.
- This event has passed.
Who do you think your police ancestors were? Sue Webb: Online via Zoom and in person in the Dunrossil Centre
30 September @ 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
The Speaker and the Archive
The Constabulary Archives was started as a Millennium project and initially run by volunteers linked to the police family. The Constabulary Archives became an integral part of the For the Record project which was started at Gloucestershire Archives in 2016 and Sue Webb was appointed as a member of police staff.
The Constabulary Archives continues to run from both Police Headquarters and the Heritage Hub. Sue and several volunteers answer queries that come in through the website https://gloucestershirepolicearchives.org.uk/ or via its office in the Heritage Hub. They give talks and appear at events as well as investigating the history of the Constabulary by further research into the documents we have preserved.
They are happy to collect donations of new items such as police equipment and uniform, photographs, documents or anything else linked to the force history.
