The Story behind the display
Sue Woodward and another GFHS member Maureen Roberts researched all the names on the Hucclecote War Memorial and found some council funding to get the information into print in the form of a booklet. It has taken a few years to produce the booklet, but we succeeded in the end and they are available with all the information for anyone who would like one (while stocks last or so they say).
If any members can add to the information that we have discovered regarding the men from Hucclecote who are remembered on the memorial together with the women and children who died during the air raids- please contact Sue Woodward email@example.com.She will be delighted to hear from you.
Remembrance Sunday 2021 saw hundreds of people at Hucclecote War Memorial. They followed the band of the 5th Gloucester Boys Brigade and the parade from the Royal Oak along the main road. Due to the large crowd, social distancing and other Covid restrictions we could not invite people into the Cafe to see the exhibition after the parade.
