Ordering BMD Certificates via Gloucestershire Registration Services

Do you need a copy of your birth certificate or are you tracing your family history?

Apply online for a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate.

A full birth, marriage/civil partnership or death certificates for £10.00, dispatched within 7 calendar days.  Postage is a signed for service charged at £2.00.

A short birth certificate for £10.00 (this does not include details of the parents and may not always be accepted by passport offices or other organisations).  Postage is a signed for service charged at £2.00.

An express copy of any certificate for £30 (inclusive of postage), which will be issued and dispatched by signed for post within 24 hours of receipt. This service is not available on Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holidays.

Ordering Copy Certificates

All calls requesting certificates should have been diverted to the GRS website where orders can be placed.  If a call should come through to you direct the customer to: http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/births-marriages-deaths-and-civil-partnerships/order-certificates/

For information: A copy of a marriage, civil partnership, birth or death certificate can only be obtained from the district where the event took place. If the event took place outside Gloucestershire we will not be able to process the application.To purchase online the customer must be able to pay by credit or debit card.

There are two types of Copy certificate service

Standard service

Certificates are produced within 7 working days at a charge of £10.00.  They will be posted using Royal Mail signed for service or they can be collected from Gloucestershire Registration staff based within Gloucestershire Archives, no earlier than after the 7th working day (see below for opening days/times of Archives). Postage for certificates will be a £2.00 flat rate which is a signed for service.

Express service

Certificates are produced and posted within 24 working hours for a charge of £30.00.  (Cheques are not accepted for this service).  Certificates will be posted first class or can be collected from Gloucestershire Registration staff based within Gloucestershire Archives by arrangement. The postage is inclusive of the £30.00 fee.

The Archives building is closed to the public on Mondays so can only be collected on Mondays by prior arrangement with the Copy certificate team.

Thursday – 09:00 – 16:00
Friday – 09:00 – 16:00
