Memorial inscription recording at Parkend (St. Paul), the new extension to the left of the Lychgate section (as you look from the road). Meet 7.00pm.
Steve and Eric have surveyed the burial ground and prepared simple plans as we used in the Lych Gate cemetery. The burials are in well defined plots and rows, and apart from a small number of early burials which are of an assortment of styles of memorial they are all headstones on plinths with the odd “cremation marker” here and there. There is also a plot of cremation memorials.
Ground conditions and, generally, the condition of the memorials are much better than in the Lych Gate section. It should be possible to photograph most memorials and transcribe the inscriptions from the images off screen at home. How the recordings are to be best presented for inputting into the database will be decided on site before we start.
There are 373 grave memorials and 104 cremation memorials.
